Fall Break..

Last week the girls only had a 3 day school week.. They had Thursday and Friday off which was called "fall break". Some leader's from church arranged for the 12- 17 year old girls to go camping for 3 days.. Thursday morning at 6:30am we (well gaz did) dropped the girls off, as they were camping at Zion's National Park which is about a 4 hr drive away..
Down southern Utah it is always a bit hotter than Provo..

On camp he girls went swimming and went on some big hikes..

They also had a great time making new friends as we haven't been in our new ward for long.







The leaders enjoyed having the girls so much that they want us to fly back so the girls can go next year....They had a great time and fell into their beds Saturday night and went straight to sleep

hiking the Y (part2)

A couple of weeks ago we thought we would "bite the Bullet" and hike up to the Y.. If you know what or where the Y is then you would know why we have been putting it off for a while.. A big letter Y is on the mountain below the university, it is the size of a football field and getting up there is a really steep hike..
and it was very thirsty work...
Eliza thought this rock looked like Tasmania..


The view was fantastic we could see all over the city of Provo..

We finally made it...At this stage I was saying.. Why, Why!!!!
We were so glad we did it before the rain and snow would have made it very difficult to finish.
On the way down we took our time at the many rest spots along the way and some time to take some photo's..


I was planning to do the hike with Laura and Elaine but have changed my mind.. Once is enough...

Hiking the Y (part 1)

Our new motto is.......
"a family that sweats together, stays together"...........

Noah...

This is our friend Noah, he made a impact on anyone who met him, he made anyone who came in contact with him "want to be a better person"..... It was a privilege and honor to be his friend..Today Noah's funeral is being held Tasmania...
Tasmania has NEVER felt so far away.....

Remember when???

Remember when I was doing "posts" about the snow........

Well guess what???????It's BACKKKKKKKK!!!!!!This photo was taken outside my bedroom window, sorry for the poor quality but all of a sudden it has got freezing and I didn't want to go outside!!
Monday was nice and we knew there was a storm coming...
Yesterday I was cooking and Elaine rang me and asked was that snow outside...
WHAT!!!! yes it was, not enough to stay on the ground..
But on the mountains is a different story...
If you don't hear from me for a couple of days it's because I'm moving all the warm clothes from the back of the wardrobe to the front!!!!

Conference Provo Style

We were lucky enough to get some Conference tickets, Saturday morning session and also Elaine offered to look after Eden so we could all go in..
There was heaps of people holding signs outside the Conference Center asking for tickets.. So with our tickets we went in line.. It was a great conference session, Pres Monson wasn't there at the start and came in about 3/4 way through. Pres Monson in his brief talk announced that they would be turning the burnt Provo tabernacle into the city second temple.. I can't really remember any of the other talks as my mind was with the King family...



While we were waiting for Elaine and Eden as they were going to the afternoon session we went to the Dessert Book store as on conference weekend they have book signings.. Phebe was happy as the cast from 17 miracles were there...(sorry about the pic)Sunday part of the weekend is a bit of a lazy one. It is broad casted on TV so you have the luxury of watching in your lounge room. Sleep in, stay in PJ's cooked breakfast is the order of the day..
As I'm writing this it is half way through and I can tell ya that watching it on TV and staying home aren't what you think it would be..
Phebe and Eliza are fighting over who has more space on the couch and Eden is not siting still at all.
Give me the chapel any day... Next year I'm happy to get dressed on Sunday clothes and travel 20 mins ad sit in the chapel...
