We love the Y

Yesterday Elaine and I decided that we would try and get tickets to the Relief Society Meeting by going and standing in the "standby" line.. Of course the traffic on the 1-15 made us later than we were already running. We thought we would make our standing in line as pleasant as possible by stopping of at Maccas to get a shake... We finally found a parking spot and made out way to the Conference Center.. With our shakes in our hands we asked a missionary couple if they knew where the standby line was.. While walking away a sister yelled out to me and asked if we would like some tickets....

YES... We got tickets, we didn't have to stand in line and think of restaurant we were going to go to if we didn't get in.. (the cheesecake Factory was at the front of the list).....
We were SO pleased that we deiced to make the1 hr drive instead of the 2 minute drive to the stake center..
Sister Barbara Thompson always puts a smile on my face.
Elder Uchtdorf talk was the best...
No mentions of planes but talking about a little blue (the colour of the sky) flower..

I thought that Elder Uchtdorf was trying to get season tickets to BYU games, cause the kept on saying.. because of the "WHY"....
But I thought it was the other "Y".....

16 years..

This week Gary and I are going to celebrate our 16th wedding anniversary. (yes the pic above is of us on our wedding day)... I just wanted to share some of my favourite photo's, well the one I have access to from Provo..

Our first apartment in Biffrons Court, I loved that wall paper...

First it was just the two of us and then we had this bundle of joy.. Yes that is Gary!!!!

Then we were a family of four......

Gary full filled one of his MANY dreams in 2006, to take part in the Commonwealth Games Baton Relay....We have had some fun times together and to make our family complete, along come Eden...
What can I say....
Married to Gary, Gaz, Big G , Woody or Gaza has like living on a roller coaster...
I don't know what the next "dream" or "goal" is going to take us.
But I know for sure that I will be there holding his hand.....
As a wise man said "ONWARD HO"

Game Day....

Yesterday was the first BYU Home game and it just happened that it was against their rivalry team Utah.About 1pm we went to a tailgate party at a local supermarket to get some free food.. Not only did we get plenty to eat and drink but Eliza won two tickets to the game!!!! We got tickets, so we gave them away to one of our friends...

On game day they line the streets near the stadium with BYU flags.. Before the game we headed down to the stadium to see if we could score some more free stuff (yes it's all about the frebbies)..
They had all different things were down at the stadium.. This meant heaps of people.. and we did score some free stuff.. a couple of bags, some foam fingers and I won lip balm..We had been to a game before but for the girls it was their first game..

Even though we left with 5 mins to go (Eden was sound asleep), we had a good time....
We have season tickets, so next Friday night we will be at the stadium again
Maybe BYU will win... UTAH 51 BYU 10.....

Pep Rally...

Tonight we went along to the BYU COUGARS Pep Rally to see what it was going to be like.. Even though we had been to several BYU Football games, we had never be here at the start of the season.. BYU have already played two games this season (lost one and won one) but they haven't played a home game yet!!!!
And what a better game to start the season of with.. BYU vs UTAH the rivalry team.. It's like Cartlon and Collingwood playing against each other.. It's just worth going to be part of the crowd. These blue seats are wish we would be seating all season, but NO we aren't.. We did get a chance to seat in these seats back in 2009, they were great seats..
It's a crazy time around campus, the rivalry between these two teams is strong and students enjoy trying to paint statues red as that is the UTAH UTES colours. So all the statues are wrapped in glad wrap.. Will have to take photo's on Saturday!!!!

The guy with the mic says "and give a hand to the BYU Cheersquad" and Eden turns around and points to herself and says ME!!!!!
Yes Eden YOU!!!!!

FHE is always good when it is based on some kind of food item.. This week we headed of to the local A&W shop to indulge in 99 cents Root Beer floats.. and you are asking how this is church related???

"If you stay in the gospel, you will always stay afloat" !!!!!!!!!

It was well worth it and plus we saw some crazy dude at the lights dancing on Rollerblades...

The two 1st !!!

In June I brought 3 Selena Gomez tickets and the best part was I didn't tell the girls. She is really big over here and we have a couple of here CD's (for road trips).. The girls had always said that they would like to see her or Taylor Swift in Concert.. Being that I was not going to pay $180 for Taylor, Selena won.... I had always wanted to keep it a secret and didn't tell anyone via Face book or email just in case I left them open..
On Wednesday after school I told them to hurry up and do their homework as we were going to Salt Lake City to see a church concert... Phebe worked it out soon after I said that (I'm no good at lying) but Eliza hadn't come home yet, so I asked Phebe to keep it a surprise...It wasn't til we were half way there , when I reached into the bag and gave her a piece of paper and asked her "what exit did I have to get off on".. She said it wasn't the map it was the ticket.. it took her a while to read it at work out what was going on..
The girls were very excited as it was their first music concert..After buying the over priced tour t-shirt we found our seats and the party began!!! I wish I'd taken my bigger camera ,just not the itouch's.. The concert was amazing and we all had a great time.. We ALL acted like we were 12.. even the 40 yr old..Eliza also had another 1st.. she hurt her finger at sport but seeing we didn't have time to go and sit at the Dr's (the concert was the same night) i took her to the Dr's the next day and found out that she has a broken finger.... 1st broken bone in the family!!
So no washing up, laundry or other things for a while.
Off to the hand specialist on Monday to see how long the splint has to stay on for!!

BYU SOCCER...

Today was a long weekend so after Gaz went and help out at the stake service project, we decided to head down to the South Field and watch the BYU women's soccer team play.. Even though it was a bit of cloud around it was still a nice day..
BYU were playing Arizona.. they won the game 2-0....

It was our first soccer game so we didn't know how many people were going to be there.. The BYU fans didn't disappoint the team.. There was a big crowd there..

Best of all I got to see Cosmo, we hadn't seen him all summer..
On the 17th of Sept is the first home game for the football team..
Those games are AMAZING to go to and we have got season tickets, so look out for the first football post soon!!!

Florida!!!!

Along time ago Gaz (the best non paid travel agent) found some really cheap tickets to Florida..
Our friends the Thuesons from Idaho go on cruises all the time and suggested that we should look at going on a cruise while living here.. We found one going to the Bahamas that worked in well with our flights...
So the trip began, the only thing wrong with a really cheap flight is that you really don't have a choice of how many stop overs you will have.. Way over was only a 3hr stop over in Denver,.. Yes we marked another state of our list!!!
The first pic (on this post) was our view of our first hotel and this was the view looking down.. And was we glad it had a pool, cause it was really hot in Florida.. I know it's been hot in Provo, but this was a dryer heat... We had many hand stand competitions in these pools...
Our second hotel was also cool and was down in cocoa beach, which we loved.. There was no high rise buildings( like Gold Coast) and seemed really friend surfing place.
Again we spent most of our time in the pool area...
The locals were friendly and keen for a big wave. Which was happening all the time as hurricane Irene was coming up from the Bahamas. We didn't spend much time on the beach as it was very windy and most of the time the beach was closed.. But as soon as it was open again, those crazy surfers were out get "hammered" again!!!

Despite the winds and the beach being closed we loved being on a beach again.. We miss Bridport and the beach heaps..

There were alot of guys with metal decortors on the beach.
No wonder Gaz found a pocket knife in about his first 10 steps onto the sand....
But the main reason we came to Florida was to go on our 1st ever cruise..
The staff looked after us well and left animals folded on our bed every night, this was a nice touch especially if you had small kids.. Eden loved it..
The Food was another highlight, we dinned in the "fancy dinning room"...
The crab cakes were my favourite thing unfortunately it wasn't on the menu each night as they changed it each evening, but you still had lots of choices..
Gary loved trying to refresh his Indonesian as most of the wait staff were from there.. It was funny to watch and listen and they loved hearing that we had been to their home country as well!!
The boat was great and always had things to do.. They surely did have every age catered for and when you would find yourself with nothing to do, why not go and get an ice cream, freshly made sandwich, grab a cold drink and pizza that was available 24 hrs..

The Bahamas was great, hot but great.. and popular with the cruise ships.. the docks were always packed. On one of the port stops we booked a snorkeling tour , so we went along with our 100 newest friends and hoped on a huge catamaran and went out for about 30 mins to a nice little reef..
On the way we passed the hotel "Atlantis" it was very expensive to go their for a day trip..

Not only was our first cruise but it was my first time snorkeling and first time using a water proof camera..

What can I say, if you have been snorkeling yet, put it on your bucket list.. It was the best thing!!
Snorkeling and ordering cheeses cake for room service ( not costing a thing) was my two favourite things about the cruise.. Eden had a great time in the kids club and even the girls made some friends in the older kids club...and Gaz found out that he wasn't going to win any table tennis competition in the future...
The boat wasn't really effect buy the hurricane that was behind it, but we did leave the Bahamas at midnight instead of 7am the next morning, so we were out of danger.

Did I forget to mention that we also went to universal studios while in Florida....
Harry Potter was the highlight here for sure.. I'm not really into the whole "hp thing" but this just made you fall in love with it for a while.. But this was the most packed part of the whole park, you couldn't move in the gift shop. It was full of people buying over priced sounivers.
But we did have some beer.. Yes beer... butter beer.. Is it in the movie, I wouldn't have a clue??? But it was yummy and was refreshing as it was still hot and what will cool you down more than an over priced drink that you have to share with 4 other family members...
We loved our time in Florida and would love to go on another cruise one day, but was happy to return to Provo as it was really expensive to shop in Florida..
Mc Donald's didn't even have $1 large soft drinks!!!!
As i said in the beginning we had no choice about our flights, I was not looking forward to flying back as we had to be at the airport at 5:45am ( it was 1 hr away from our hotel) and when we got there at the airport there were people very where because they had closed some airports on the east coast because of the hurricane.. All the flights to New York ha been cancelled...
We were going home Florida, Houston, Denver and Salt Lake... ggrrrr.. wasn't happy .. but I was more worried about missing our flight with the amount of people trying to get on flights.. Finally we were attended to and then we were told that our flights had been changed.. ggrrrrr
So we are taken over to another counter and told that we are now leaving an hour later and flying to California and the Salt Lake. At first was i a bit crabby, but then told that it would cut out flying time in half!! pleased lisa..
Thanks for reading or not reading my long essay... xx
