Manti

So when we came over we had made ourselves a "things to do list" and one of the things was to attend a "church pageant". June was when he Manti one was being held, which was going to be the closest and easiest pageant to get to.. So on Thursday we drove to Manti which is about 1 1/2 hrs away. The pageant didn't start til 9:30pm which we meant we didn't have to hurry.. Even had time to stop at a Walmart along the way.... Always time for Walmart..

We made sure we parked the car in a good position, so it wouldn't get stuck in traffic late at night and found a seat.. There was heaps of people there, more than I thought there would be on a Thursday night and it had already been into it's second week..Before it started we had a photo with some cast members. Not Gaz though he was off wondering around looking what the protesters have to say and he ran into some ex Tasmania's/Queensland people..

Filling in time taking photo's, but none of Eden as she was pulling faces all the time..

The pageant is staged on the hill besides the Manti Temple and told of three stories, the restoration of the gospel, the witness of the book of Mormon and the journey that the pioneers faced when moving across America..

It was really well done and a great production..

You weren't allowed to film or take photo's during it, but I got to take some photo's of the Temple in different lights..

It was a great night we arrived back at Provo at 1am in the morning but it was worth it..

Even if you weren't a church member it would still enjoy it..

Another thing crossed of the list.... a few things still left on there though!!!!!!

my Dad

Soon after we packed up and moved to the States, my Dad done "packing up" of his own kind. He sold his house put some of stuff in storage and brought a bigger bus.. Over the years my Dad has brought many traveling vehicles, he packs up and then goes travelling around Australia.. I have lost count of how many times he has done this (so he must like it)

One thing that him and Leigh doing different this time is emailing and checking the blog.. He also sends the odd photo's with their emails, so we can look at where and what he is doing..
I'm so glad that Dad is checking my blog (even though he doesn't comment) and glad that he sends us emails and photo's....

I think that Dad should buy some razors in the next town he visits... hahhahahha
and maybe some better bait.....

Guest Blogger....

Last week I woke up at 4:30 to get on a bus to leave Provo, and arrive at Martin's Cove. The bus ride was meant to be a 7 hour ride, but then a bus broke down, so then it was a 9 hour instead.
When we got to Martin's Cove we got split up into families, we would spend 3 days together.
The first day we walked 3 miles (5 km). It was so hard to get used to but it was fun anyway.
This was my family of a Pa and Ma and 5 brothers and 3 sisters, we got on really well, we were called the Rockridge family.
Bronte one of my sisters couldn't walk (she hurt herself) so she got to go for a ride and look after our baby sister..
Since we were away from our families we all received a letter from our parents.. yes I did cry..

If you wanted to cross the river, you could.. I deiced to do it with some of my family and the water was up to my chest and it was cold...

One of the reasons I was looking forward to trek is to reenact how it would have been like in 1846. When the pioneers left Nauvoo and travelled west. Most families lost a family members and it wasn't easy for them. All of us selected a "trek " name , a pioneer that we were walking for.. I picked who I was named after Pheobe. W. Carter Woodruff.. She also walked this trail and did some amazing things during this time even though she had trails herself, she never stopped helping others along the way.. I'm glad my parents named me after a pioneer with such strength.

Mum loves this photo of Susan...... Her and her husband Scott was a Ma and Pa as well.....

From my journal;

So blessed to have all the things in my life, a family, house, clothes, hoes, lots of food and a bathroom.I felt the love for my family..

The love of Our Heavenly Father is unchangeable. He loves us no matter what we do Even if you make a mistake he is there with open arms and we can return to him again

Thanks to Sis Salvesen for the photos

Bear Lake

On Saturday we went up to Brigham City ( 2hrs away) to see the Marbles as we hadn't seen them in a while.. When we got there they said "want to go to Bear Lake".. Sure.....
It was about another 1 1/2 hrs drive so we hopped into the minivan and off we went...

The Lake was huge and it's always windy at the lookouts.....
Time for some lunch...

And mucking around in the car.....

We didn't have much time as we just wanted to visit with the Marbles, but they always want to take us somewhere. We had to get back, as Phebe was coming home that night from trek and it was a big drive back...
Next time we go we would love to drive around it more or even go camping there...
And try a raspberry milkshake that a shop there is famous for....

Phebe in training?

Tomorrow morning at 4;30 am Phebe has to be at the Stake Center (1min away) to catch the bus for Sharon Stake 2011 Trek.. Every year youth groups(14-18 yr old) travel to Wyoming and dress up in pioneer clothing and experience what it would have been like for the pioneers in the early 1800's..
They pack everything on the handcarts and are divided into family and walk for 3 days.....
So instead of going on long walks and wearing in her shoes...
The only training Phebe has done is dressing up and going down to the creamery to get some ice cream..

I think she will be very tired but very grateful when she get back on Sunday...

I hope she takes some photo's...
And becomes a GUEST BLOGGER...

this is the CROWDED place

Back in April we visited a church pioneer park called "this is the place", but it was close to closing time so they were packing up for the day so we just had a little look around... On Friday they were adveristing a FREE day (it would have cost me $34 otherwise), so with Gaz being busy studying we thought it would be a good time to check it out again....

Unfortunately, so did half of Utah.... It was VERY crowded and a bit warm. There was a HUGE line up for the free ice cream and an even bigger one for the train.. PLEASE TRAIN... Eden would say....

The Park is full of things to do, lots of different buildings to go and see how it was for the people back in the 1800's... Because there was SO many people we didn't get around all the park but i was just happy taking some pics while the kids patted the animals..

Yes it was a LONG wait for the train...

I loved all the Handcarts, Phebe is going on TREK (which will be another post) on Thursday...

Po's enemy is stairs and mine will be the handcarts , Phebe said....

Maybe I will go back and enjoy it when it's not so crowded.....

Seven Peaks.

Today we decided to check out the local Water Park, Seven Peaks. It was the first of many visits as we have brought a yearly pass, as the Water Park is connected to other Parks.. We spent alot of time in the MASSIVE Wave Pool..

They have Pools for everyone, Eden and Eliza enjoyed "the lazy river"..

Slides for the little kiddies....

Slides for the big kids...

Do you like the Snow on the mountains!!!

Yes the AUSSIE'S invaded Provo again..

If I don't answer the phone or the door, this is where I'm going to be.........

Drive In.....

Well we ALL love going through a DRIVE-THRU at Maccas or KFC and every takeaway place has them... I don't think they would survive with out them.... But in the States they take it to the next level... EVERYTHING here can be DRIVE-THRU if you want it to be... We have been here nearly 6 months and this week we used the DRIVE-THRU ATM, only because we couldn't remember our pin and didn't want to get out Eden of the car if it didn't work..

Orem (next to Provo) has a DRIVE IN Dry Cleaners... Just drive up and give them your clothes and of you go on your merry way!!!!!

I think we will just use the takeaway places.....
